1. So sánh nhất trong Tiếng Anh là gì? Dùng khi nào?

So sánh nhất diễn tả mức cao nhất hoặc thấp nhất của một đặc tính trong nhóm từ ba đối tượng trở lên. Trong câu, tính từ/trạng từ ở dạng so sánh nhất thường đi kèm the.

  • This is the best option for small businesses.

  • She arrived the earliest among all candidates.

  • Our plan is the least expensive for Q4.

Trong TOEIC, so sánh nhất xuất hiện nhiều ở:

  • Quảng cáo/sales: the most reliable service, the fastest delivery

  • Báo cáo nội bộ: the highest revenue, the lowest defect rate

  • Mô tả sản phẩm: the most efficient model, the least noisy engine

2. Công thức tổng quát của so sánh nhất trong Tiếng Anh

2.1 Tính từ ngắn (đồng thường một âm tiết)

Công thức: the + adj + est

  • tall → the tallest

  • cheap → the cheapest
    Quy tắc CVC (phụ âm – nguyên âm – phụ âm): nhân đôi phụ âm cuối rồi thêm -est

  • big → the biggest, hot → the hottest

2.2 Tính từ dài (từ hai âm tiết trở lên)

Công thức: the most + adj hoặc the least + adj

  • the most productive, the least productive

Ghi chú về các tính từ hai âm tiết “linh hoạt” (clever, narrow, quiet, simple, pleasant): có thể dùng cả -est hoặc the most. Trong văn viết TOEIC hiện đại, the most + adj thường an toàn, nhưng -est vẫn chấp nhận:

  • the simplest / the most simple

  • the cleverest / the most clever

2.3 Tính từ kết thúc bằng –y

Đổi y thành i rồi thêm -est:

  • happy → the happiest, busy → the busiest

2.4 Tính từ kết thúc bằng –e

Chỉ thêm -st:

  • nice → the nicest, large → the largest

2.5 Bất quy tắc phổ biến

  • good → better → the best

  • bad → worse → the worst

  • far → farther/further → the farthest/furthest
    Gợi ý: farther/farthest nghiêng về khoảng cách vật lý; further/furthest dùng cả nghĩa ẩn dụ (further discussion).

2.6 Trạng từ

  • Trạng từ có dạng giống tính từ (fast, hard, early): the + adv + est

    • She finished the earliest.

  • Trạng từ kết thúc -ly: dùng the most/the least + adv

    • He handled the complaint the most professionally.

3. “In” hay “Of” sau so sánh nhất trong tiếng anh?

3.1 Dùng in với địa điểm/khoảng không gian hoặc phạm vi mang tính “nơi chốn”

  • the best café in the city

  • the most popular brand in Asia

  • the tallest building in the world

3.2 Dùng of với tập hợp/cụm đối tượng hoặc khoảng thời gian, con số

  • the most experienced of all candidates

  • the highest revenue of the three regions

  • the worst result of the year

Mẹo nhanh:

  • Nhóm “địa danh/khu vực” → in

  • Nhóm “tập người/vật/khung thời gian/các con số” → of

4. Cách tăng cường/giảm cường độ cho so sánh nhất

4.1 Tăng cường

  • by far, easily, quite possibly, nearly, almost, simply

    • This is by far the most cost-effective solution.

    • She is easily the best presenter on the team.

4.2 Hạn chế/phạm vi

  • one of + the + superlative + plural noun

    • She is one of the most talented designers in the company.

  • so far / to date / ever

    • It’s the best quarter we’ve had so far.

    • This is the most useful tool I have ever used.

4.3 Dùng the least cho mức thấp nhất

  • the least risky option, the least time-consuming process

5. Những lưu ý ngữ nghĩa tinh tế

  1. The most + noun khác most + noun

  • the most customers = số khách nhiều nhất trong nhóm chỉ định

  • most customers = phần lớn khách hàng (không phải so sánh nhất)

  1. Tính từ tuyệt đối (unique, perfect, impossible, dead…) về nguyên tắc không so sánh. Tuy nhiên, trong marketing hay giao tiếp đời thường, người bản ngữ đôi khi vẫn dùng “the most unique” để nhấn mạnh. Với bài thi/viết trang trọng, nên tránh.

  2. Tránh double superlative

  • ❌ the most fastest, the most cheapest

  • ✅ the fastest, the cheapest

  1. Older/elder – oldest/eldest

  • elder/eldest dùng chủ yếu cho quan hệ gia đình; trong TOEIC, “the oldest” tự nhiên hơn.

6. So sánh nhất trong văn phong công sở và TOEIC

  • Quảng cáo/PR: the most innovative, the best-selling, the most affordable

  • Báo cáo: the highest growth, the lowest churn, the most efficient workflow

  • Hợp đồng/điều khoản: ít dùng siêu phẩm từ cảm tính; nếu có, thường gắn với dữ liệu “the lowest bid”, “the best terms available”

Câu mẫu theo tone TOEIC:

  • Our logistics partner offers the fastest cross-border delivery in the region.

  • Among all proposals, this plan requires the least additional resources.

7. Lỗi thường gặp và cách sửa

  1. Quên “the”

  • ❌ This is most important step.

  • ✅ This is the most important step.

  1. Dùng sai “in/of”

  • ❌ the best of the city → ✅ the best in the city

  • ❌ the most experienced in all candidates → ✅ of all candidates

  1. Dùng “more + adj + est” hoặc “most + adj + est”

  • ❌ the most cheapest → ✅ the cheapest

  • ❌ more fastest → ✅ faster / the fastest (tùy so sánh hơn/nhất)

  1. Chính tả đuôi –y, –e, CVC

  • ❌ happi est, large est, bigest

  • ✅ the happiest, the largest, the biggest

  1. Trạng từ –ly

  • ❌ the quickestly → ✅ the most quickly

10. Mẹo học nhanh – nhớ lâu

  • Nhóm theo chức năng: “the + adj + est” cho tính từ ngắn; “the most/least + adj/adv” cho tính từ/trạng từ dài.

  • Ghi nhớ cặp “in” cho nơi chốn, “of” cho nhóm người/vật/thời gian.
